Kennebec River Fishing in Maine

http://morningsentinel.mainetoday.com/sports/stories/3107756.shtml

This is a detailed article about fishing the Kennebec River in Maine, sounds and inviting place and with so much detail about the best areas it is very tempting to get on over there.....

Mike Holt owns Fly Fishing Only, a fly shop on the Kennebec Riverin downtown Fairfield, so naturally, he knows the river from Shawmut Dam to Fairfield as well as anyone. His knowledge comes from spending thousands of hours, fishing this gorgeous stretch of gravel-bottomed, wading water with trailing weeds and heavy hatches.

"If we don't get lots of rain this month," Holt said, "then this will be one of the best Septembers ever for trout fishing on the Shawmut stretch because the water has cooled so quickly."

Holt explained that on Sept. 12 last year, the water temperature held in the high 60s, but this past Wednesday, it had already dropped to a steady 65 degrees, ideal for activating brown trout and rainbow trout for the fall season. By mid-week, anglers were picking up rainbow trout but not browns. By today, though, this river should produce red-hot fishing for rainbows and maybe browns.
