NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A fly fishing and hunting guide in Marion onSaturday won a contest designed to determine the nation's bestall-around outdoorsman.
Paul Garrett Thompson, 31, took top honors at the 2006 Field & Stream Total Outdoorsman Challenge.
Thethird annual event, held in Nashville, pitted 16 accomplishedoutdoorsmen against each other, including Thompson, professional bassfisherman Sean Hoernke and Olympic shooting gold medalist Matt Emmons.
Competitorswere tested in fly casting, bait casting, air rifle, shotgun,endurance, archery and ATV handling, according to Field & Stream..............................
