Fly Fishing St Joe
The St Joe in Idaho sounds like a great place to do to some serious fly fishing for cutthroat trout, bull trout and whitefish.
"Fly-fishing is especially beautiful in the fall and the St. Joe is a great spot to be," said Cory Luoma, an avid fly-fisherman and co-director of Gonzaga Outdoors. Luoma led the trip last year and is excited to get back to the St. Joe.
The St. Joe River is located on the panhandle of Idaho near St. Maries. Fly-fishermen can anticipate catching a lot of cutthroat trout, bull trout and whitefish. It is not unusual to catch 30 fish on this river, but there is never a guarantee when it comes to fishing, Luoma said. There are specific regulations that apply on this river such as catch-and-release only, using artificial flies and lures with a single barbless hook.
